title = "{"}I{\textquoteright}m Just the Start of The Conversation{"}: Values of Disability Leaders and Activists",
abstract = "Disability activism is rarely studied in higher education. Using a national sample, we conducted interviews with 11 current and former undergraduate students engaged in disability activism. Working from a critical constructivist paradigm and a generalized inductive methodology, we analyzed the data using principles of disability justice and research on values in leadership to understand the values, beliefs, and assumptions of these leaders. We identified nine core espoused beliefs or values about disability leadership and activism, and multiple behavioral manifestations of each. Findings have implications for students{\textquoteright} leadership development and the future study of disability activism.",
